Over the past few years,Fortnite: Battle Royalehas received multiple skins and items from popularWeekly Shōnen JumpIPs, likeDragon Ball,Naruto,Jujutsu Kaisen,My HeroAcademia, and more. These additions were really exciting, but they have also left anime & manga fans with one burning question: Where is theOne Piececontent?
After all, Eiichiro Oda’s pirate manga is one of the most beloved and best-selling works of fiction in the entire world, and it has certainly grown in popularity in recent years, so it’s kind of odd that there’s not a single piece ofOne Piececontent inFortniteyet, especially skins. Naturally, this is an extensive story with an enormous world, so there are a lot of characters that could be added to the game, but the following eight are the most obvious choices.
8Monkey D. Luffy
The Protagonist Needs To Join Fortnite More Than Anybody Else
The first and most obvious choice isMonkey D. Luffy,the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates and the main protagonist ofOne Piece. With his bright red vest and signature straw hat, he would be immediately recognizable to mostFortniteplayers (even those who have never watchedOne Piece),not to mention that he would feel right at home with all the otherWeekly Shōnen Jumpicons, like Goku or Naruto Uzumaki.
Fortniteis a cartoony and light-hearted video game, which means that the goofy and optimistic Luffy would fit perfectly into its tone and world. The only problem is that, as a cosmetic skin, it would be weird to see him fighting with guns, something that he has never used in his own series. But this isn’t really a big deal, since the same can be said for Goku, Naruto, Deku, and the other anime characters in the game. However, it would be cool if Luffy’s Gomu Gomu no Mi was added as a special item for all players to use, similar to the Kamehameha or Deku’s Smash.
7Roronoa Zoro
Luffy Can’t Join Fortnite Without His Right-Hand Man
Fortnite: Battle Royaleusually adds character skins in groups of three, so, if Luffy joins the game someday, he’ll most definitely haveRoronoa Zororight by his side. After all, the swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates is almost as iconic as his captain, and he’s yet another belovedOne Piececharacter that would fit right in with the likes of other legendary anime icons like Sasuke or Vegeta.
Like his captain, Zoro never uses guns, so he would look weird in the usualFortnitegameplay. However, Epic Games could easily fix this by adding a brand-new pickaxe that’s based on one of his many signature katanas, so he could at least use one of them as a melee weapon. Furthermore,they could also add a special emote that references his signature Santoryu fighting style as well.
6Sanji
The Monster Trio Wouldn’t Be Complete Without Him
BothSanjiand Zoro are the “Wings of the Pirate King” who, along with their captain,make up the infamous “Monster Trio” of the Straw Hat Pirates. This means that, if Epic Games decides to addOne Pieceskins toFortnitesomeday, these three would be the first trio that they’ll announce.
Sanji is yet another loveable and recognizable character that would fit very well withFortnite’sart style and tone. While he also prefers not to use guns, it’s possible he would look a lot less weird than his crewmates when using one in-game, since he has a subtle espionage theme going on for him, not to mention that Sanji was originally going to be a gunslinger/cowboy until Eiichiro Oda scrapped that concept. It also wouldn’t be surprising if Epic Games decided to add emotes based on Sanji’s cooking skills and/or his romantic antics.
5Usopp
The Sniper Of The Crew Would Fit Better Than Most Other Characters
“God”Usoppmay not be as popular as otherOne Piececharacters like Luffy, Nami, or Zoro, but he undoubtedly deserves a spot in the game as much as his crewmates. This is not only due to his status as yet another iconic and popular figure in the series but also due to his role in the Straw Hat Pirates.
Usopp is the sniper of the crew, so he has more experience in firing projectiles than any other member, meaning that he would be a perfect fit forFortnite’sgameplay. And while yes, he usually prefers to use more cartoony weapons (like slingshots) instead of actual guns, he still wouldn’t look weird wielding them. Nevertheless, Epic Games could always add a special slingshot weapon with Pop Greens, in order to better represent Usopp’s usual fighting style.
4Nami
One Piece Has Some Great Female Characters That Need To Be Represented As Well
Every anime bundle inFortnite: Battle Royalehas featured a prominent female character, like Bulma fromDragon Ball, Sakura fromNaruto, Uraraka fromMy HeroAcademia,or Nobara fromJujutsu Kaisen. So,One Piece’smost iconic and popular girl,Nami, should definitely join them someday.
This would be a great idea becauseOne Piecehas some of the best-written and most memorable female characters in the action shōnen genre, and at least one of them deserves a spot in the game alongside all the male characters. The best part is that Nami constantly changes her outfit and hairstyle, so Epic Games has a lot of great designs to choose from. They could even collaborate with Netflix once again and add her incarnation from the Live Action series, which would be based on Emily Rudd’s likeness.
3Franky
An Eccentric Cyborg With Weapons All Over His Body
Truth be told, every single member of the Straw Hat Pirates would be perfect forFortnitebut, sadly, not all of them can make it (at least not at the same time), so it’s important to highlight which ones would better fit the game’s tone and gameplay. A good example is the crew’s shipwright,Franky, who would be an unconventional but brilliant choice.
Franky is a cyborg who often uses guns when fighting(especially those that are hidden inside his mechanical body), so he would be a natural fit for this third-person shooter. On top of that,Fortniteis already filled to the brim with weird, colorful, and over-the-top skins – whether they’re original to the game or from other properties – so he wouldn’t even look out of place. Needless to say, Epic Games should 100% add a “SUPER!” emote to the game in aOne Piececharacter bundle, regardless of whether Franky is part of it or not.
2Donquixote Doflamingo
He Would Make For Some Much-Needed Villain Representation
One ofFortnite’sbiggest surprises was the sudden addition of aMy Hero Academiabundle that was made up entirely of villain skins. This was a brilliant idea, because most action shōnen manga have extensive casts of memorable antagonists, andOne Pieceis obviously no exception. However, if Epic Games decided to add aOne Piecevillain as a skin, picking just one of them would present a huge challenge.
Blackbeard, Rob Lucci, or Sir Crocodile would be solid choices, but there’s no denying thatDonquixote Doflamingowould be the best one.He’s the most popular and complex villain in the entire series,and he has a unique yet colorful design that would help him blend intoFortnite’sart style. While Doffy prefers to fight by using his bare hands and his Devil Fruit (which could also be included as a special item), he has wielded guns at some points in his life, especially when he was younger, so he wouldn’t look that strange when using them.
1Gol D. Roger
The King Of The Pirates Who Started It All
One of the best things aboutOne Pieceis that it features a rich and expansive world full of legendary figures that, even though they’re already dead by the time the story begins, still have an enormous impact on its characters and politics.Gol D. Rogeris the most obvious example of this phenomenon, as he’s the famous Pirate King who kick-started a new age of piracy when he announced that his treasure, the One Piece, was hidden somewhere.
Roger is directly and indirectly responsible for most of the events in the history of this fictional world, and he has grown to become one of the series’ biggest icons. While Epic Games would most likely prefer to include younger characters like Luffy, Zoro, or Nami, it would be amazing to see Gol D. Roger alongside them inFortnite: Battle Royale. On top of that, he looks like the quintessential classic pirate captain, so most gamers would likely enjoy playing as him, even if they’ve never watchedOne Piece.
