Quick Links
One Piecehas always had an amazing roster of villains. Including some of the most massive and world-changing threats, like Kaido, Crocodile, and Doflamingo,One Piecevillains are on an entirely different level, when compared to other anime. However, with the flashy nature ofOne Piece’sbiggest villains, many people forget the smaller villains of arcs, with characters like Captain Axe Morgan, Fullbody, and many more being completely left behind.
However, it is generally in this smaller list of forgotten characters where some of the most universally hatedOne Piececharacters lie. These characters, though they generally perform similar evil deeds to other villains, lack the charms and charisma that makeOne Piece’siconic villains so popular. In a way, these characters accomplish their goal, rallyingthe entireOne Piececommunitybehind one simple objective; making them the most hated characters inOne Piece.

One Piece Villains Are Fantastic Examples Of Good Antagonists
Each Villain Is The Perfect Combination Of Hatable And Relatable
Villains, in general, are meant to be disliked in some capacity. Whether it’s due to their horrible ideals, awful past deeds, or general hatred of everything around them, a good villain, for a show likeOne Piece, needs some sort of negative quality, to emphasize the victory of Luffy and his allies. However, having a completely evil character with purely negative qualities isn’t interesting either. In some ways, the perfect villains inOne Piecehave some sort of positive quality that offsets their evilness. Crocodile is charismatic and intelligent, Doffy loves his crew and is extremely driven, Big Mom believes in equality between races, and the list goes on.
Those who stand at the top determine what’s wrong and what’s right! - Doflamingo

However, a character, generally a villain, starts to become one of the most hated characters in the series when they lack some good qualities to offset their evilness. For example, if Big Mom didn’t have her goal of uniting the world’s races, she would just be an awful pirate who would murder her children. Looking at these characters with no positive qualities, it should be easy to find themost hated character inOne Piece.
Spandam And Charlos Are The Most Hated Characters In One Piece
The Duo Has No Redeeming Qualities Or Human Empathy
For the title of the most hated character inOne Piece, it’s a toss-up between two characters. Firstly, Spandam, the former leader of CP9, was one of the most annoying characters in the entire series. Being both weak and cowardly, Spandam was only given his position due to nepotism from his father’s former position. However, this doesn’t stop Spandam from constantly abusing Robin duringOne Piece’sEnies Lobby Arc, in an almost masochistic fashion. This character is beyond evil, beyond unintelligent, and doesn’t possess a single admiral quality. In many ways, he is the easiest villain to hate in the entire show.
However, the Celestial Dragon, Saint Charlos, is a close contender for the most hatedOne Piececharacter. First introduced inOne Piece’sSabaody Archipelago Arc, Saint Charlos was the first Celestial Dragon fans had the chance to see. The character owns slaves, treats anyone around him as subhuman filth, attempts to murder others for a slight inconvenience, and refuses to even breathe the same air as normal people. These elements combined are an easy recipe to make a hated character in the series.

Hogback And Absalom Deserve An Honorable Mention
The Thriller Bark Pirates’s Sexual Misconduct Is More Than Enough To Make Them Hated
Some honorable mentions would have to go to Absalom and Dr. Hogback fromOne Piece’sThriller Bark Arc. These two characters were both extremely grating to many fans throughout the entire arc. Paired with their blatant sexual misconduct and a generally unappealing attitude, the duo of the Thriller Bark Pirates deserve a mention as some of the most hated characters inOne Piece. The theory ends by sharing that after the Egghead Island Incident, Vegapunk is left with all of his good emotions, plus his rage, meaning he is now ready to join the good side and fight back against the World Government.
The most important thing is my life!!! My promotion! - Spandam
In the end, having these hated characters is an important aspect ofthe overall story ofOne Piece. The more hated these characters are, the more satisfying it is to see them get what they deserve. Luffy punching Charlos or Robin attacking Spandam will always be some of the best moments ofOne Piece, all because of the number of fans who wanted to see these hated characters get what’s coming to them.
