There are many mechanics inPath of Exile 2that players have to grow accustomed to during their playthroughs, especially if they try the various classes and Ascendancies the game currently offers, as each of them specializes in unique playstyles. As it stands, there are over 250 Unique Items inPath of Exile 2, and while some are extremely powerful and valuable, most offer niche use cases that would require players to build their character around them to be effective. This is rarely worth doing, and the consequence is that only a handful of Unique Items are typically used, be it for leveling or endgame builds. One of these items is the Ghostwrithe Tattered Robe, which can be used as early as level 1 and offers quite a lot of defense for its worth. Furthermore, it also comes with two major hidden boons that players should know.
There’s More Than Meets The Eye to Path of Exile 2’s Ghostwrithe Unique Armor
Unique Items inPath of Exile 2can often carry players from Act 1 all the way through Cruel difficulty and up to the endgame, and Ghostwrithe is one of these items. It’s a powerful item because it converts 50% of the character’s maximum Life to Energy Shield, while also providing 128 Energy Shield at base (154 with 20% quality) and 35% Chaos Resistance. As such, it can dramatically help with Chaos and Poison damage while leveling up, and it also increases a player’s EHP (effective HP) with little investment. On top of that, it also has two very powerful hidden effects.
Right now, Ghostwrithe costs around 1 to 3 Exalted Orbs in Standard based on Chaos Resistance values.
Path of Exile 2’s Ghostwrithe Counter-Intuitively Stacks With Chaos Inoculation
One strange effect that players may not know about is that Ghostwrithe has a powerful interaction with Chaos Inoculation. One may not consider using Ghostwrithe with Chaos Inoculation because of the imposed maximum Life total from the Keystone and its Chaos immunity, which doesn’t pair well with Ghostwrithe’s bonus to Chaos Resistance. However, thanks to Ghostwrithe’s interaction with maximum Life, it can be used with Chaos Inoculation to grant extra Energy Shield based on the maximum Life total before its reduction to 1, essentially increasing players’Energy Shield inPath of Exile 2by quite a lot and for very cheap.
Chaos Inoculation is a Keystone onPoE 2’s passive treethat makes players' maximum Life total equal to 1, but makes them immune to Chaos damage.
How PoE 2’s Ghostwrithe Boosts Grim Feast
Last but not least, because Ghostwrithe increases the EHP of a given character, it can be particularly powerful with Grim Feast. This reservation skill is one ofPath of Exile 2’s Spirit Gems, and for just 30 Spirit, it makes defeated enemies drop Grim Remnants, which grant Energy Shield when picked up and can also overflow Energy Shield up to double its original value. This Gem alone dramatically increases one’s EHP, and it can work with Ghostwrithe or any other source of ES in the game. However, since Ghostwrithe converts Life to ES, a build focused on gaining as much Energy Shield as possible will turn this combo into a powerhouse.
It’s worth noting that Grim Feast’s Remnants are also obtained when defeating Minions revived or otherwise created by enemies with the respective modifier.
