More Light Could Be Shed on Dumbledore’s Backstory
Born in 1881, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore had a pretty tragic childhood. After his sister, Ariana, gets attacked by a group of young Muggles for using magic, she’s left mentally scarred. Their father sought out the Muggles and attacked them, a crime that he wassent to Azkabanfor. Albus' father eventually dies in prison, and his mother is killed in one of Ariana’s accidental magical outbursts, leaving him and his brother Aberforth responsible for their sister.
In 1899,Gellert Grindelwaldvisits the small village where the Dumbledores reside. He and Albus share a short but intense romance, and the two form a magical pact and decide to leave the village to start a revolution that will see the Muggles eventually forced into servitude. Aberforth tries to stop Albus from leaving, resulting in a duel between the three young men. During the duel, one of the men’s spells hits Ariana, killing her.
In the wake of his sister’s death, Albus Dumbledore abandons his plan to join Grindelwald and instead retreats to Hogwarts, where he becomes a professor. While theFantastic Beastsseries tried to tap into some of this fascinating backstory, there’s still so much ofDumbledore’s backstorythat’s been left blank. Dumbledore’s Hogwarts years, for instance, are rather vague. That’s whereHogwarts Legacy’s sequel could come in and fill in the gaps.
Dumbledore’s Origin Would Fit Perfectly With Hogwarts Legacy’s Timeline
Making a whole game about Albus Dumbledore’s Hogwarts career would undoubtedly be a bit risky as it could change theHarry Pottercanon forever. But Dumbledore’s history would actually fit well withinHogwarts Legacy’s timeline.
The firstHogwarts Legacytook place in 1890, and according toHarry Potter’s current canon, Albus Dumbledore attended his first year of school in 1892. Developer Avalanche Software would still have a surprising amount of creative freedom with Dumbledore as the sequel’s protagonist, as little about his schooling life is known aside from his befriending of Elphias Doge and his high level of academic achievement.
Hogwarts Legacy 2would even have the perfect excuse to explain its overpowered protagonist, as Albus Dumbledore is widely regarded in the Wizarding World as one of the most powerful magic-users of his generation.
