The secondOshi no Konovel, titledFutari no Etude, will be released on June 29, 2025. This novel focuses on Kana Arima and Akane Kurokawa, showing their past, butwill also include an epilogue set after the final chapter. These two have a complex relationship in the manga, professionally and personally.
Kana and Akane’s Relationship
Kana Arima and Akane Kurokawa are rivals during the story. They’re both actresses competing for roles, but they also fall in love with Aqua (and Akane starts dating him later). Kana has been in the acting business since she was a child, and Akane actually used to idolize her and was inspired by her to become an actress, but was later disappointed in Kana (who, on the other hand, disliked that Akane became too close to Aqua). With this new novel, we will see how were their lives before the manga and how their relationship will evolve after the ending.
Fan reaction to the manga ending
Oshi no Ko’s boldness to portray the bad side of the idol and acting industries got fans really into the story. However, a lot of people were outraged or disappointed with how the series ended, feeling the finale was rushed. They also had thought Aqua would give up on trying to get revenge.
However, Aka Akasaka, the author, has alreadystated that the story ended how he imagined it to end. Rushed or not, it’s the ending he envisioned. Akasaka also wroteKaguya-sama: Love is War, whose ending also didn’t satisfy fans. Maybe he just likes to make unexpected endings.
