Palworld’s Guild Chests are providing players with a special feature that many fans have been yearning for since the game’s launch, giving them a safe place to store their food items without fear of letting them rot away. While safely storing food indefinitely isn’t the chests' primary function, somePalworldplayers have already picked up on this bonus feature just a few days after Guild Chests were introduced to the game.
Palworld’s Feybreak Update was releasedon June 04, 2025. The update includes a lot of new content, including a new island to explore, a new faction and other NPCs to fight against, and the ability to randomize Pal spawns in specific regions or across the game’s entire world. Amid everything else that was added through the update, Feybreak also introduced Guild Chests, which allow any member of an in-game guild to place or remove items inside them, encouraging sharing between guildmates.

While not the primary function of these new craftable containers, some players have discovered that they can use Guild Chests even in solo play, providing them with the ability to store theirPalworldfood itemsindefinitely. One of these players, Reddit user CommodoreFresh, posted their findings just a day after the update was released, stating that after placing food in a guild chest, they discovered that the timers leading to the decay of each stack of items had halted entirely. While some fans of the game predict that the halting of the timers is an unintended glitch that will be patched out in later updates, for now at least, players are free to keep their food in Guild Chests without fear of watching it rot.
Palworld Guild Chests Keep Food Items from Decaying
The new mechanic provided by Guild Chests gives players a little more comfort when playingPalworld. Though its mechanics of capturing cute monsters and using them in battle drew some early comparisons toPokemon, its core gameplay keeps it rooted in the survival game genre, with players having to traverse the game’s map while managing important factors like body heat, lest they succumb to the elements.Finding and eating food inPalworldis essential for both the survival of player characters and the fitness of their Pals to work and do battle, so having the means to safely store that food is a bigger boost for players.
Although the discovery should help a lot of players to keep their food stores fresh, it potentially lowers the utility of one group of Pals.Palworld’s Ice Palshave a special function at bases, being able to power refrigeration units that significantly slow down the decay counters on stacks of food items. But even without this special utility, they’re still great at fighting Dragon-type Pals, and many can perform other essential tasks at bases, such as mining or gathering lumber.
