Summary

OnePath of Exile 2fan recently took to social media to request that Grinding Gear Games display movement speed penalties on items such as armor. The player received support from thePath of Exile 2community, who also shared feedback on certain aspects of armor they would like to see improved.

Path of Exile 2early access launched on July 31, 2025. Despite a rocky start with server-related issues, it was generally well-received by players. The primary purpose of early access is for players to test the game and assist the developer in refining it for a future full release. A player known as loopuleasa posted on Reddit, asking thePath of Exile 2developer to display movement speed penalties on items. They pointed out thatPath of Exile 2’s body armorand shields have hidden movement penalties of up to 5%, which they consider significant enough to warrant explicit mention on the items. Loopuleasa believes this would be especially helpful for new players. For example, the Healthy Pelage Targe of the Cloud shield and the Oyster’s Iron Cuirass armor have a -5% movement speed penalty. It seems that any body armor or shield associated with armor/strength attributes always carries this penalty.

Path of Exile 2 Players Want Movement Speed Penalties to Be Shown on Items

Other players in thePath of Exile 2community echoed this request while sharing their thoughts on armor in general. One fan remarked thatPath of Exile 2armorfeels “borderline useless” and argued that the movement speed penalty is somewhat excessive. Another player speculated about the purpose of the penalty, concluding that it might be a thematic element designed to enhance immersion. Like the game’sTetris-style inventory and item drop sound effects, the movement penalty could be intended to give a “sense” of realism to the equipment.

In addition to loopuleasa’s request, players have previously proposed other improvements to Grinding Gear Games. Shortly after the game’s early access release, apopular streamer suggested thatPoE 2’s Act 1 bosses be made easier. Criticism was also directed at the melee combat system, with the streamer commenting that it felt “less fun” compared to ranged combat.
