There are plenty of seemingly-insignificant quests inPath of Exile 2that are actually very important for progression. Finding the Forge in Act 1 is one of these quests, and it serves as the gateway for recycling unwanted gear.
This is one of the many quests players will end up taking while progressing throughPath of Exile 2’scampaign. However, it’s not something you’re able to do while working on the main objective, and you’ll likely have to take a lengthy detour to finish it.
How to Find Renly’s Tools
The item you need to find for the Finding the Forge quest is inside Ogham Village. However, since the game uses random generation for its map layouts, pinpointing the exact location of Renly’s Tools is going to be impossible. Luckily, the area containing the toolsalways has a checkpoint near it, giving players something tangible to look for when exploring the razed village.
Fast travel to the Ogham Village waypoint, pick a side and hug its wall. Continue exploring that side, and you’ll eventually encounter a narrow passageway in between two wrecked huts. As mentioned, a checkpoint should be right in front of the passageway — head inside and clear any enemies you find, and you should see Renly’s Tools on a table nearby. Bring the tools back to Renly in Clearfell Encampment, and the quest will be completed.
The passage leading to Renly’s Workshop tends to spawn southeast of the Ogham Village waypoint, though it could spawn in the northwest as well. In our playthroughs, we’ve noticed that the workshop also has a tendency to spawn on theopposite side of the Executioner boss' arena. If you’ve already found where that boss is, then it might be a good idea to check the other half of the map.
Quest Rewards
Finding Renley’s Tools unlocks the Salvage Bench, which is used to dismantle items that have Rune Sockets or upgraded Quality. Dismantling such items grants you some spare Artificer Shards or upgrade materials (Blacksmith’s Whetstones, Armorer Scraps, etc). This is an excellent way to make use of any unwanted Socketed or Superior items you might find while exploring, giving you the chance to upgrade your existing gear.
For those who don’t know, item quality increases the base stats of equipment by a small percentage. This is one of the best ways to get better stats without necessarily farming for new items. However, to upgrade items, you need specific types ofcurrency items inPoE 2.
Players can also find these itemss while farming bosses like Rathbreaker inPoE 2’ssecond act. Some may also drop from normal enemies.
