After unlocking the Atlas system and accessingPath of Exile 2’s endgame, players will be given their first Waystone by Doryani. Waystones are used to grant modifiers to themap locations on the Atlas of Worlds, but if you run out of Waystones,PoE 2players must either find, buy, or craft a new one.
You can get Waystones from avariety of sources inPoE 2, and they can be upgraded to provide additional Modifiers and increase Rarity if you want to take on extra Challenge. The more modifiers are present on a Waystone, the more Waystone Find chance it will have. This guide explains how to get more Waystones, and how to upgrade Waystones you find, for thePath of Exile 2endgame.
Map Modifiers, Doryani’s Vendor Inventory, & The Reforging Bench
Take On Higher-Tier Maps With More Modifiers For Higher Waystone Drop Chance
Every Waystone has an inherent chance to drop more Waystones on the maps it is slotted to that scales with its difficulty and the number of Modifiers present. A normal Tier 1 Waystone will give enemies on the map a normal chance to drop Waystones for your level, while a Tier 2 Waystone with six modifiers will give more than 300% increased chance to get Waystones from enemies on the map.
You can upgrade a Waystone to give it more modifiers or use Rare Waystones, which come with the most Map Modifiers, for the best chance to get Waystone drops from enemies.
There are also several Atlas Passive Skill Tree nodes that increase Waystone drop chance, Rarity, and Tier.
Purchase A Waystone From Doryani In The Ziggurat Refuge
If you are unlucky and don’t get any Waystones to drop from enemies on a map, you can always spend Gold with Doryani to purchase a fresh, un-upgraded Waystone. Doryani will offer Waystones that are approximately appropriate for your level, increasing dramatically in price for higher-tier Waystones.
At first, Doryani will only offer Waystones of Normal rarity with no Modifiers from Tier 1 to 3,starting at 5,000 Goldand scaling up. As you continue to level and take on higher-tier Waystones, Doryani’s inventory will update with higher-tier options. If you don’t need your Gold for respeccing, save it for a rainy day when you run out of Waystones in your stash.
Combine 3x Waystones At The Reforging Bench To Create A Higher-Tier One
The third way to getPath of Exile 2Waystone items is to use the Reforging Bench. The Reforging Bench is unlocked around the middle of Act 3, after completing a quest andbeating The Forgemaster for Oswald. This feature lets players combine three of the same type of item to create a similar, or higher-tier, version of that item.
To craft a Waystone, place three other Waystones of the same tier in the three slots on the bottom of the crafting menu. you may’t mix and match Waystones of different tiers, like two Tier 2 Waystones and a Tier 3 one. All three must be of the same Tier.
When you press the Reforge button, a single Waystone of the next tier will be created.
This always produces a Normal item, which can then be upgraded with new Modifiers to increase the Waystone Find Chance of that map.
How To Upgrade Waystones In Path of Exile 2
Waystones function almost exactly like other equippable items inPath of Exile 2, and can be upgraded with more Map Modifiers andincreased Item Rarityby using the correct Currencies.
If you want to turn a low-tier Waystone into the next tier, you must use the Reforging Bench. These Waystone upgradesPath of Exile 2players can use will only add Modifiers, and will not increase the Tier of the Waystone.
