Path of Exile 2has no shortage of ways to upgrade and modify your items through itscomplex and interconnected crafting systems. One such crafting system that players can unlockis the Reforging Bench –Path of Exile 2’s recycling feature.
With the Reforge Bench,PoE 2players can turn three copies of the same type of item into either a new version of that item or an upgraded version of it. But before you’re able to take advantage of this system, you have to unlock the Reforging Bench by taking on a quest in Act 3, one that takes you into the Molten Vault toconfront a magma-fuelled Forgemaster.
Reforging Bench, Explained
Turn 3x Of Any Item Into A Similar, Or Upgraded, Item
ThePoE 2Reforging Bench lets players turn three of any item into a new version, or upgraded version, of that same item. In the Reforging menu, which can be accessed by interacting with the Reforging Bench in town, the three items placed in the bottom three slots will be destroyed to create a new item in the top slot.
You can Reforge quite a lot of items inPath of Exile 2, including Gear, certain Currencies, Waystones,and even Runes. This table covers everything that you can do with the Reforging Bench inPath of Exile 2, the requirements for Reforging different items, and what you will get for Reforging items.
Reforging Result
3x Equipment (Magic or Rare only)
All three provided items must be the same Base item type and the same Rarity
1x random item of the same Base item type and Rarity of components
3x Unique item
All three Uniques must be the same Unique item
1x re-rolled version of the provided Unique item
All three provided itemsmust be the same Currency
1x random Currency of the same provided Currency type
All three provided Distilled Emotions must be the same
1x of the provided Distilled Emotion at the next tier
3x Precursor Tablets
All three provided Precursor Tablets must be of Magic or higher Rarity
1x random Precursor Tablet
3x Relic
All three provided Relics must be the same type
1x random Relic of the provided type
3x Rune
Can use any three Runes, they do not need to be the same type
1x random Rune
3x Waystones
All Waystones provided must be the same tier.
Rarity of the Reforging result is based on the lowest Waystone Rarity provided
1x random Waystone at the next tier
Once you press the Reforge button on the pop-up Reforging menu,Path of Exile 2players lock in the items, which cannot be recovered once Reforged into a new item.
How To Unlock The Reforging Bench In PoE 2
Defeat The Forgemaster For Oswald To Unlock Reforging
The Reforging Bench is unlocked about halfway through Act 3, when players are tasked by Oswald to find The Molten Vault.
After entering The Drowned City for the first time in Act 3, head back to the Ziggurat Encampment andtalk to Oswald at the north of town. He will offer the quest “Treasures of Utzaal”, which tasks players to locate The Molten Vault and find a legendary hammer for Oswald.
The Molten Vault location is inside The Drowned City. This side area connects to the exterior border of the zone, so scour the edges until you find the entrance. You will know you’ve arrived when your character remarks on the entrance in front of them and you get the option to summon Oswald.
Enter The Molten Vault and progress through this dungeon until you reach the end. A bridge spans between molten lava on the top and the boss room below. Head into the Arena to be brought down to Mektul the Forgemaster’s location and begin the fight.
Defeat Mektul, pick up the Hammer of Kamasa, then return to Oswald at the Ziggurat Encampment. Talk to Oswald to give him the quest item and complete the quest. Once youpick up the Skill Gemand complete the quest, the Reforging Bench will appear next to the Salvage Bench.
rom then on, you will see a Reforging Bench next to the Salvage Bench at every encampment inall Acts and the endgame.
