Now, MediocrePlayer has shown off their wood Lapras, which was lovingly carved by hand as a commission. TheWater/Ice-type Laprasis made out of two different types of wood: walnut and sapele. The body appears to be sapele, with the darker mahogany shade taking the place of Lapras' usual blue coloring. Its shell is a separate piece, made from walnut, creating a color contrast between the two parts and also adding a unique texture to the shell that gives it a weathered look. The two work well together, with the body of Lapras appearing extremely smooth and polished, while the shell looks like it’s protected the Lapras from injury in the past due to the deep grooves running across it.

On both Reddit and Instagram, users have been eager to share how impressed they are with the work. The faithfulness of Lapras' face and shell have particularly drawn attention, with some complimenting MediocrePlayer on the choice of materials. Some fans joked that it was aunique Shiny variant of Lapras, while others thought it resembled chocolate. A few expressed curiosity about whether the Lapras was for sale. Since it’s a commission, this one will belong to someone else, but MediocrePlayer did note that they are willing to accept custom orders and can be contacted on either of their accounts.
It’s clear that MediocrePlayer is talented, not only from this Lapras, but a prior creation that they shared. The same fan uploaded awood Dratinithat they had carved not too long ago, which also gained ample praise from the RedditPokemoncommunity. That particular carving was made from maple, giving it a paler shade than Lapras, but appearing just as cute with fully accurate facial features, including Dratini’s big eyes.
