Summary
APokemonfan took to social media to share their take on an evolution for Jynx, one of the original Pokemon that has yet to receive an official evolution. ThePokemonfan artist posted a detailed analysis of their Jynx evolution concept, including abilities, statistics, and the reasons behind their creation’s name and likeness.
Known as the Human Shape Pokemon, Jynx made its debut inPokemon Red and Blue. Unlike most Pokemon found in the wild, Kanto trainers could only obtain Jynx via an in-game trade in Cerulean City in exchange for a Poliwhirl. As an Ice and Psychic dual-type Pokemon, Jynx can use moves such as Ice Beam, Psychic, and Shadow Ball effectively thanks to its high special attack stat of 115. However, Jynx’s low defense, attack, and HP statistics keep it from being one ofthe top Ice Pokemonin competitive battles. Additionally, Jynx is one of just a few Pokemon that are still unobtainable inPokemon Scarlet and Violetfollowing the release of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC.

Although Jynx has not been seen in the ninthPokemongame generation, that has not stopped fans from giving the Human Shape Pokemon some attention. On the r/pokemon subreddit, a Reddit user named IndigoFenix posted their concept of what an evolved form of Jynx could look like. Dubbing this new form Takyonna, the Snow Witch Pokemon. Takyonna was given tentacles at the bottom of its dress, and an aurora pattern covered most of its body. Takyonna’s hair was changed from blonde to gray, and its eyes were covered by a dark pair of shades. IndigoFenix stated that the design for Takyonna was inspired bya leaked Mega Jynx designthat was cut fromPokemon X and Y.
Pokemon Fan Artist Shares Jynx Evolution Concept Based On Scrapped Mega Form
IndigoFenix said that Takyonna’s name was derived from Tako, the Japanese word for octopus, and Yuki-onna, a snow woman Yokai that Jynx was based on. IndigoFenix added that Takyonna’s lower body and tentacles were inspired bythe iconic Disney villain Ursula. Compared to Jynx, Takyonna remained an Ice and Psychic dual-type, but its special attack and speed were further boosted. IndigoFenix also gave Takyonna access to the Protean ability, which would switch its types based on the first move used in a battle. Between its stats and the Protean ability, Takyonna would potentially be a viable option in competitivePokemonbattles.
In response, onePokemonfan said they liked the Ursula-inspired aspects of Takyonna’s design. WithPokemon Legends: Z-Ascheduled to launch in 2025, whether Jynx receives any much-needed attention remains to be seen.
