Originally released in 1998 in Japan and in 1999 in the West,Pokemon Yellowwas the fourth game of the first mainline generation, followingPokemon Red,Green, andBlue. Unlike other versions ofPokemonat the time, the starter ofPokemon Yellowwas none other than Pikachu, the Mouse Pokemon. While Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle could be obtained later,Pokemon Yellowalso made changes thataligned with thePokemonanime, such as the inclusion of Jessie and James as recurring boss fights throughout Kanto. Decades later, leaked Pokemon designs made the rounds on social media, which renewed interest in the franchise’s beginnings.

Through it all,Pokemon Yellowsolidified Pikachu’s placeas the series' long-standing mascot and created memories that players would not forget even several years later. On the r/GameboyAdvance subreddit, a Reddit user named GhostLillith21 shared a picture of their copy ofPokemon Yellowand a Game Boy Advance (GBA) they had as a child. While the Game Boy Advance originally came in colors such as indigo and white, GhostLillith21’s GBA was a gold-colored model that was only available at the Pokemon Center New York store before its 2005 remodel to the Nintendo World Store. This special Game Boy Advance had Pichu and Pikachu on the bottom side of the screen, and the Pokemon logo was printed above the A and B buttons. The Pokemon Center New York logo was on the top side of the screen, and the box that the special GBA came in featured Pichu, Pikachu, and Charizard on the front.

Since the manuals were still in the respective boxes, GhostLillith21 added they would look into getting the value of both items graded. At the time of writing, an unboxed, pre-owned Pokemon Center Game Boy Advance console started at $115 to $129 on eBay, making it one ofthe rarer game consoles that collectors can purchaseonline.
