Pokemon GOhas added a new feature that should make it easier for players to go on raids with friends. Participating in large-group raids inPokemon GOis a great way to capture some of the rarest Pokemon in the game, and this recent addition will let friends hop into each other’s raid battles, providing some extra firepower.
Raids weren’t always a part ofPokemon GO.The augmented reality game, which was designed in part to promotephysical fitness amongPokemonfansby getting them to walk around the real world in search of Pokemon, introduced its first raids in the summer of 2017, about a year after the game’s initial launch. Since then, publisher and developer Niantic has made several adjustments to its raid system, promoting community togetherness in addition to exercise, and this newest change brings the community even closer by encouraging players to check up on their friends lists.
Each player can now check their friends list to see which of their in-game friends are actively in a raid, and potentially join them in battle. As reported on theofficialPokemon GOwebsite, a player simply needs to go to the Friends tab of their Trainer Profile, then sort their friends list under the new “At a Raid” option under the drop-down sorting menu, which will show all the friends actively queueing up to join a raid. The player can then select their friend’s information to view data on that raid, including the number of other trainers waiting in the queue. If there is an open spot and the player has aPokemon GORemote Raid Passavailable, they can simply tap the Battle button to jump into that queue.
Pokemon GO Makes Raiding with Friends Easier
There are some limitations regarding which raids can be joined in this manner. While players who are physically in close proximity to one another can use the friends list to join the same raid using a normal Raid Pass, the new feature seems geared more towards players just wanting to pop in on a friend’s raid from a distance. For that reason,Pokemon GOShadow Raids,Elite Raids, and any other type of raid that can’t normally be accessed with a Remote Raid Pass won’t work through the friends list feature. Additionally, players have the option to hide their raid activity from their friends' visibility, and players who join a raid through the friends list won’t be able to invite anyone else to join.
Additionally, the development team has addressed an issue that is preventing players from rejoining raids from the friends list after they accidentally leave or encounter a network error. Niantic states that the problem will be fixed in a futurePokemon GOupdate, and any player who feels they’ve unfairly lost a Raid Pass due to this issue can use the app’s support system to submit a ticket to have it replaced in their inventory.
