Summary

The first new Pokemon to joinPokemon GOin 2025 is the delightful puppy Fidough, and Niantic is making the Global Challenge a little bit easier than originally planned. Global Challenges are huge deals inPokemon GO, bringing trainers from all over the world together on a unified mission to earn special bonuses and some unique Pokemon.

Pokemon GO’s Global Events have a long history of entertaining players across the world, with the first Global Event taking place in late 2017. Since then, there have been several of these events, all encouraging trainers to unite together despite their different team affiliations, to earn some snazzy rewards. Generally, these challenges are not too difficult to accomplish, typically having players catch a certain number of Pokemon or visit a bunch of PokeStops to earn rewards like bonusStardust inPokemon GO.

This year’s Global Challengewas off to a much more difficult start, however, requiring players to makeNice Curveball Throws inPokemon GOto unlock the various event rewards and complete missions. Since the initial announcement, the requirements have been bumped down in difficulty, now just requiring players to make Nice Throws to progress further in the Global Challenges. The rewards players can earn did not change, just the difficulty of completing certain Field Research Tasks.

Pokemon GO Global Challenge Details

The 2025 Global Challenge has six levels of rewards to progress through, with the next one only unlocking once players around the world have completed enough event-themed Field Research tasks. While players are off catching Pokemon, they will also find special Showcases at different PokeStops where event-themed Pokemon like Shiny Voltorb and Shiny Electrike will be available to snag. The Global Challenge event starts on June 17, 2025, at 3:00 PM PST and will run for just four days, ending on July 23, 2025, at 10:00 PM PST. This event is running alongside thePokemon GOSprigatito Community Day, which is taking place on June 07, 2025.

Global Challenges are a great way for players who have been out of the game for a bit to return since each level of rewards does not solely rely on just one player to complete them to get to the next level. Not to mention, the bonuses players earn during the event, like bonus XP and Stardust for catching Pokemon will make catching up with other players a bit smoother. Getting back in now is a crucial time, since February 27 is the next Pokemon Day and will likely drop a ton more information about what to expect from the rest of thePokemon GODual Destiny season.
