Summary

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocketis no longer displaying shop notifications for free daily gifts. This change, which is likely a result of a bug, could causePokemon TCG Pocketplayers to miss out on multiple freebies per day.

Since its October 2024 release, DeNa’s hit mobile game has consistently given out freebies via its storefront. Every 24 hours, players canget onePokemon TCG PocketShop Ticketand a single Wonder Hourglass—which reduces the 12-hour wait between receiving Wonder Stamina points by one hour—by visiting the in-game store. Up until recently, the game would attach a notification icon to the Shop button on the home screen whenever a new daily gift became available to claim.

SomePokemon TCG Pocketplayers have now realized that the game has stopped showing these convenient freebie notifications. This was initially noted by Reddit user ShaDis_255, who posted about the change on the r/PTCGP subreddit. Dozens of other fans subsequently confirmed they are experiencing the same issue on their end. Game Rant was also able to replicate the problem. The issue seemingly materialized on December 17, as part of an update thatadded the Mythical Island expansion toPokemon TCG Pocket.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Freebie Notifications Likely Disappeared by Mistake

Japanese mobile gaming giant DeNa, the lead developer ofPokemon TCG Pocket, hasn’t yet said anything about this change. That notwithstanding, it’s plausible that the freebie notifications have disappeared as a result of a bug rather than being intentionally removed. After all, the daily freebies don’t hold much value on their own and primarily exist to provide players with a reason to keep opening the in-game store every 24 hours. It’s hence unlikely that DeNa would have made them less prominent, thus inhibitingPokemon TCG Pocket’s revenue-making potential.

Given this state of affairs, it’s plausible that the freebie notifications will return to the home screen before long. Until that happens,Pokemon TCG Pocketplayerswill need to remember to regularly open the store less they miss out on their daily complimentary Shop Ticket and Wonder Hourglass.

The missing shop freebie notification isn’t the only bug thatPokemon TCG Pocketfans have spotted since Mythical Island’s release. E.g., there’s a known issue with the new Weezing card (50/68) introduced as part of the expansion, which cannot be recalled with the Koga Trainer card even though the latter’s text clearly states that it should work with any Muk or Weezing variant. This particular bug was recentlyacknowledgedon the game’s official forums, though it’s unclear if it’s already being investigated.
