Such leaks are common in the consumer electronics industry, particularly with smartphones, where device dimensions often surface through third-party accessory designs weeks or even months before being officially announced.
In one of the most recent examples of this trend, accessory makerDbrand recently shared a render of its first-ever Switch 2 case, which it plans to begin selling in the near future. Elaborating on this move in a statement toThe Verge, Dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz said that the newly shared product design wasn’t based on guesswork but the precise dimensions of the next Nintendo console, which the Canadian company obtained through a “3D scan of the real hardware.” Asked about what those proportions are, Ijaz said the Switch 2 will be 270 x 116 x 14mm in size with the Joy-Cons attached.
Switch 2 Will Reportedly Be Much Larger Than Nintendo’s Last Console
Without the two detachable controllers, the upcoming console will still be 200mm wide, the executive said. This would make it 24mm longer than the Switch OLED Model. Dbrand isn’t the first accessory maker to suggest this will be the case. Back in early December 2024, two store listings for apurported carrying case and tempered glass protector for the Switch 2surfaced online, with both of them indicating that the much-anticipated console will have a noticeably larger physical footprint than the device that preceded it.

If the new console is indeed larger than even the Switch OLED Model, it will likely incorporate a bigger screen. According to an early 2024 analyst forecast, theSwitch 2 may feature an 8-inch display, likely maintaining the 16:9 aspect ratio used throughout Nintendo’s current-gen device lineup. The rumor mill has also suggested that the Switch 2 dock will be bulkier than the one that launched alongside the 2017 hybrid console, potentially to provide greater stability given the device’s larger size.
Nintendo has twice now said it will officially reveal the Switch successor during its ongoing fiscal year, which ends on Jun 14, 2025. The company isn’t expected to release the new console before Q2 2025 at the very earliest.
