Sony has officially confirmed the 12 games coming toPlayStation Plus' Extra and Premium tiers in December 2024. New games are added to the Extra and Premium tiers ofPlayStation Plusin the middle of every month, with the bulk of the new titles added to the Extra tier and a handful of retro and virtual reality games added to the Premium tier.
As it so happens,three of the PS Plus Premium games for December 2024have already been added. To celebrate PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary, Sony addedSly 2: Band of Thieves,Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, andJak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacyto PS Plus Premium on December 10, a week ahead of schedule. Those three titles will be joined by one other PS Plus Premium game and 11 PS Plus Extra games, making for a total of 12 new games added in December 2024.

Out of all the new PS Plus games coming on December 17, the headliner is open worldSonic the HedgehoggameSonic Frontiers. First released in 2022,Sonic Frontierswas better-receivedthan most modern 3DSonicgames and even found itself nominated for some awards.Forspokenis also a notable new PS Plus Extra game. While it earned mixed reviews at the time of its release, it’s still one of the few PS5 console exclusives.
While it’s great that a fresh batch of games are being added to PS Plus Extra and Premium on December 17, the bad news is even more games are scheduled to be removed from the service.16 games are leaving PS Plus Extra on December 17, including titles likeDead Island,Judgment, multipleMega Mangames, andTinykin.

Sony’s PlayStation 5 is part of the ninth console generation and debuted with a launch lineup that included Demon’s Souls and Astro’s Playroom. The console comes with a Blu-ray disc, although a digital-only edition is also available for a cheaper price.
