Summary
Arcanemay have come to an end, but Riot’s plans to extend itsLeague of Legendsgame into a universe on screen are only beginning.
Spanning for just two seasons on Netflix,Arcanebrought to life a handful of champions fromLeague of Legends’140-strong roster. The series takes place in the regions of Piltover and Zaun and explores the conflict and relationships between characters on both sides, such as siblings Jinx and Vi, and scientists Viktor and Jayce. The characters' backstories were brought to life in often unexpected ways and ultimately came to an exciting conclusion in Arcane’s second season. DespiteArcanebeing the end of the line for many of these notable champions, the series’ co-creator Christian Linke has revealed more spin-off and sequel stories featuring new champions and regions are in the works, but some ofArcane’scharacters may also have their journeys continued.

Which Arcane Characters Could Appear in Future Sequels?
Mel
Mel was an original character created forArcaneand was not based on any existing champion, although given the reveal she has magic powers in the final act it’s safe to assume she’ll be a playable character in the game soon enough. Following the demise of her mother, Ambessa, Mel was promoted to the head of her family and was last seen leading the Noxian soldiers, likely back to Noxus. With recent comments from Linke revealing that Noxus will be a focus in futureArcanesequels, plus thatreveal of Swain’s ravenin the final moments, Mel is the most likely character to be seen again in a Noxus-focused story. This also makes sense given she has no lore to adhere to, meaning the writers can get creative with how her story evolves.
Ekko
Ekko finally received his time travel powersinArcaneSeason 2 Act 3, if only for a brief moment. The character is last seen looking pretty forlorn after the loss of Jinx in Act 3, leaving his future pretty open for a return in some form. Ekko was known for leading the rebel group the Firelights inArcane, but with tensions between Piltover and Zaun seemingly resolved for now, perhaps the leader may be inspired to take his talents elsewhere and explore regions outside his home, which could make him a candidate to appear in futureArcanespin-offs.
Singed and Orianna
Singed was one of the more villainous characters inArcane. He was revealed to have once been a revered academy alchemist, only to be ousted for his experiments. Singed once worked under Silco to create the drug known as Shimmer, and then continued his heinous experiments, creating thewerewolf known as Warwickand then reanimating Viktor to complete his glorious evolution. At the heart of Singed’s motivation was the desire to cure his daughter, who was shown to be held in cryo in a tank, likely due to a debilitating disease.
The end ofArcanerevealed that Singed had cracked the code for reversing his daughter’s illness, and she was shown as a young robotic woman come to life.League of Legendsplayers knowSinged’s daughter as Orianna, the Clockwork Lady, and seeing as she was only glimpsed in a short tease at the end of the series, she makes for a likely candidate to reappear in future stories, where her arc can properly play out.

Heimerdinger
Heimerdinger seemingly met his end inArcane’sseventh episode as he sacrificed his life to help Ekko get home to his universe. However,League of Legendslore has established that yordles are immortal, which means even if Heimerdinger perished physically in that moment, he’s likely to still be alive somewhere. A popular theory is that Heimerdinger’s spirit returned to its homeland,Bandle City. Should Riot ever choose to explore Bandle City on-screen, this could open the door for Heimerdinger to return, as well as explore the story of someother yordle champions.
Jinx
Of all the champions who perished by the end ofArcane, Jinx is the character with the best chance of survival. Jinx chose inArcane’sfinal episode to sacrifice herself, taking the decision out of Vi’s hands, and falling to her death whilst also putting an end to the threat of Warwick. However, a few teases in the episode seem tohint that Jinx escaped the fallvia an air duct and may have gone off to live a new life in one of Piltover’s airships. If this is to be believed, Jinx’s fate could be confirmed in futureArcanespin-offs by having her appear in a new region. The end ofArcaneseems to suggest that Jinx has left Piltover which means she could be found starting a a new life in Noxus, Demacia, or Ionia, which are keyfocus regions for Riot moving forward. Even if Jinx doesn’t have a major role in Riot’s future entertainment plans, even a brief appearance could be the confirmation fans need that Jinx got a happy ending.
ArcaneSeasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix.
