Even without the controllers, the Switch 2 would still have a larger screen than the current Switch OLED model.
Though all rumors must be taken with a fine pinch of salt, another rumor about the Switch’s successor has been making the rounds. According toa post on the r/NintendoSwitch2 subreddit, a Reddit user named NextHandheld claimed that they somehow obtained a retail unit of the Switch 2 console, and confirmed that its name was simply the Nintendo Switch 2. A Reddit moderator stated that they were able to verify the claims they made about the Switch 2, and allowed the post to remain online. Although NextHandheld said they would not share any pictures of the Switch 2 or respond to direct messages, they took some time to answer a few questions posted by Reddit users. To start, NextHandheld statedthe Switch 2 Joy-Con controllershave features that “could create new experiences” for some players, and stated that they enjoyed the weight and feel of the Switch 2 compared to the Steam Deck.
Nintendo’s Next Console May Simply Be Named The Switch 2
NextHandheld stated that the Nintendo Switch 2’s logo was the Joy-Con logo to the left of the number 2, and the words Nintendo and Switch in two rows below them. The leaker also claimed thatthe Switch 2 was farther into productionthan anticipated, but did not know of any launch titles that would arrive with Nintendo’s upcoming console.
Betweenthe alleged specifications of the Switch 2and leaks of different accessories, the anticipation surrounding the Nintendo Switch’s successor has reached a fever pitch. When Nintendo will finally pull back the curtain on the Switch 2 remains to be seen.
