Summary
Ahorrorfranchise is only as good as its characters, and fans can’t wait to see their favorites come back forScream 7. Legacy characters like final girl Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) have been to hell and back. However, no matter how many times she battles this iconic villain, it feels likethe nightmare of fighting Ghostface will never truly be over. Although it’s fun to imagine the storylines ofthe newScream 7teenage characters, fans are most looking forward to catching up with the people who they’ve gotten to know over the past six movies.
Althougha few legacy characters are coming back forScream 7, there is another one who fans think would be a compelling addition to the horror franchise. Could this character realistically return, and what would happen to them?

Why Martha Meeks Should Appear In Scream 7 (And Why She Shouldn’t)
Redditor @ashmichael73wondersifMartha Meeks (Heather Matarazzo) could come back forScream 7and suggests that she could bethe victim of the opening sequence. Several fans agreed with this. Redditor @Terryr405 wrote thatMartha’s death could be “emotional"and explained:
“At this point she’s definitely earned her place as a legacy character and therefore would be a good one to bring back for an emotional death scene since they need to up the stakes.”

Redditor @Own_Atmosphere7443 agrees that Martha could show up in the opening sequence:
“I think she would be a good possibility for an opening kill.”
Since many fans think alegacy character should be in the opening ofScream 7, it would make sense to feature Martha this way. Since she’sRandy Meeks’s (Jamie Kennedy) sister and Chad Meeks-Martin’s (Mason Gooding) mother, she could be hanging out with Chad or on her way to meet him when Ghostface attacks. Now that Chad is back, it would only be logical to feature at least one of his family members. Many fans dislike the idea of Chad dying inScream 7sincehe was badly injured inScream 6. While fans like Martha, her death would have a big impact on the franchise and would prove once again that no one can avoid this danger forever. It might not be surprising since fans assume it could happen, but it could still work for the story.
However, while some think Martha could have a perfect comeback inScream 7, some don’t want to see her again.
Redditor @CrissBliss thinksMartha shouldn’t come back because the Meeks family has been through a lot. They wrote:
“Oh my gosh, I hope not. How much can the Meeks family suffer? GF has terrorized them more than Sydney by this point. It’s why I sometimes wish we just got a new cast every movie.”
It’s possible to see both sides of this argument. On the one hand,Martha is a kind characterwho would be a welcome sight in the seventh movie in the popular franchise. It would be brutal for Chad to almost die andthen lose his mom. On the other hand, Martha’s death could motivate Chad to fight Ghostface, which would make the story even more powerful. Sincenot every member of the Core Four is coming backand it’s unclear if Jasmin Savoy Brown will reprise her role of Mindy Meeks-Martin, it would be good to see Chad and his mom interacting, even if in a brief scene.
Which Legacy Characters Are Returning For Scream 7?
Now that moreScream 7cast members have been announced in the past month or so, it’s fun to imagineif some fan theories about Ghostface could come true. Fans now have a complete picture ofwhich legacy characters are coming back for the seventh movie. They includeSidney Prescott, Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), and Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding). While it’s true that any of these characters could die in the next film, many fans think they will survive and come back for subsequent sequels.
Fans are hopeful that Patrick Dempsey will come back as Detective Mark Kincaid since he and Sidney are married with kids. They also wouldlove to seeHayden Panettiere reprise her role of tough character Kirby Reed.
Although it’s unclear if more legacy characters will be announced, fans remain hopeful that they will see more strong, brave, and smart characters return to battle Ghostface inScream 7. It would make sense if they wanted to rally around Sidney and help her, especially since she now has a family.
