Sega Hardlight has revealed that Shadow the Hedgehog will be added to the playable roster ofSonic Dream Teamon December 18, bringing his signature Chaos abilities.Sonic Dream Teamis an Apple Arcade exclusive title that was first released in December 2023. This game is the first fully 3D platformer developed by Sega Hardlight; the studio’s previous mobile outings included endless racing games likeSonic Forces: Speed BattleandSonic Dash.Dream Teamboasts a roster of six playable characters, split between Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream, and Rouge.
Sonic Dream Teamhas received a variety of post-launch updates since it first launched, including a brand-new zone known as “Sweet Dream,” a bonus level containing some of the hardest challenges. This game is also getting post-launch content as part of the “Fearless: Year of Shadow” event, which focuses on Sonic’s anti-hero rival. Similar to howSonic X Shadow Generationspromoted him to a starring role,Shadow is going to be playable inSonic Dream Teamas well. While Shadow’s addition was revealed back in September, fans finally have a date for hisDream Teamdebut.
Courtesy of Sonic Stadium, Sega Hardlight says that Shadow the Hedgehog will be added toSonic Dream Teamon December 18, just a few days before the premiere ofSonic the Hedgehog 3in theaters. Shadow won’t play like a move set clone of Sonic or Amy either, as he has a completely unique move set related to his Chaos abilities.Shadow can use Chaos Controland Chaos Shift, which can freeze time and lock both the environment and enemies in place. Players will also need to unlock him first before they can play as the iconic anti-hero.
When is Shadow Coming to Sonic Dream Team?
Shadow’s addition also comes with a set of new equippable powers to make certain challenges easier. These new powers include Quick Grind, Perfect Jump, Chain Attack, and Perfect Jump, which will be available for all characters.Shadow’s appearance inDream Teamalso gives him two exclusive powers; double Chaos Shift and extended Chaos Control, which will likely extend his ability to stop time around him. More unlockable music tracks will also be added to the daily Tails Challenge score milestones.
With Shadow’s year wrapping up in 2024, Sega’s giving him a lot of love in games before his appearance inSonic the Hedgehog 3. Themovie version of Shadowwill be added as a playable character inSonic Forces: Speed Battlein a special event, complete with a new level based on the film as well. The movie DLC forSonic X Shadow Generationswas also dropped earlier this month, where Shadow rips through Shibuya and takes out various G.U.N. personnel.
