Solder is the one who sold Skif the coordinates to place the scanner at the start ofStalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. After tracking him down at the Sphere during the “Behind Seven Seals” mission, you’ll be presented with thechoice to either spare or kill Solder. If you choose to spare his life, he’ll show up again and assist you during the mission “The Hornet’s Nest.”
However, the objective “Help Solder” seems to be bugged in the game, even if you save him from Monolithian soldiers. The object isn’t marked as complete, and in some instances, he even ends up dying out of nowhere. This can be a bit frustrating, but there’s a quick workaround you may do to successfully help Solder and mark the object as complete during the Hornet’s Nest inStalker 2.
How to Fix the “Help Solder” Bug During Hornet’s Nest Mission
When you start The Hornet’s Nest inStalker 2, you’ll meet Solder at the start of the mission (if you’ve spared his life in the Behind Seven Seals mission). When Monolithian soldiers are targeting him, you can kill the two soldiers immediately. However, it won’t mark the “Help Soldier” objective as complete. Here’s the proper way to do it.
Enter the Room Where Solder Is
As soon as you step into the corridor, Solder’s radio transmission will begin requesting assistance against the Noontide/Monolith soldiers. As soon as you hear the broadcast, rush into the room where Solder is making his stand against enemies.
Listen to Solder Complete Radio Transmission First
Once you enter the room, there’s a high chance that the Monolithian soldiers will shift their aggro from Solder onto Skif, which is exactly what you want. In case that doesn’t happen, simply shoot a single bullet in both of their legs to make them shoot you instead. This step is crucial in preventing the Monolithians from killing off Solder while you’re waiting for his transmission to end.
Take Down the Monolith Soldiers
Once Solder’s transmission ends, the mission pop-up will indicate that you need to “Help Solder.” When that happens, now you can track down both of the Monolithian soldiers attacking Solder and take them down. Once both of the enemies are down, approach Solder and start a conversation with him.
This will successfully mark the sub-objective as complete. Solder will stay alive, and you can carry on completing other optional objectives in the Hornet’s Nest mission inStalker 2.
