Summary
A strange graphical glitch has caused aStardew Valleyplayer’s Coop to mix up the order of its sprite segments. While it boasts an extremely addictive gameplay loop, the art direction ofStardew Valleyis another important aspect of its charm and appeal. Eric Barone’s pixel art style has become iconic over the years, as many artists and fans have tried their best to emulate it, with one of the most recent examples being theBaldur’s Gate 3mod forStardew Valley.
The gameplay inStardew Valleyprimarily revolves around the player tending to their farm. Given the grid format ofplanting crops inStardew Valley, the objects in the game are measured by how many “units” their sprite occupies. The most famous example where this mechanic plays a role is when calculating the possibility of growing a giant Cauliflower, Melon, Pumpkin, or even the newPowdermelon. Namely, if nine crops of the same type occupy a 3x3 grid, there is a chance that they will grow into a giant crop inStardew Valley.

However, for some reason, the sprite for the Coop rendered somewhat erratically for pokegirl275, who shared a screenshot of the glitched-out building on theStardew Valleysubreddit. Notably, the Big Coop has a width of 6 units, and each column got loaded in an incorrect order. While it doesn’t affect the gameplay, it is nonetheless an amusing visual bug. It’s also important to mention that visual bugs are more likely to happen when usingStardew Valleymods, as appears to be the case with pokegirl275.
Stardew Valley Player Has a Strange Visual Glitch
While it shares the same sprite as the Big Coop, the building in pokegirl275’s screenshot is actually on Jeric’s Farm, a new location added by theRidgeside Village mod. It’s a common issue that happens when Ridgeside Village clashes with another mod, and given that the player can’t enter the building, it is a relatively harmless glitch to have. Unlike a regular Coop, the Big Coop allows players to house other types ofanimals inStardew Valley, such as Ducks, Void Chickens, and Dinosaurs.
To no one’s surprise, the pixel art style fromStardew Valleywill carry over intoHaunted Chocolatier, which has been in development by Eric Barone since 2020. When startingStardew Valley, Barone hadn’t dabbled with pixel art yet, which made the development an important learning experience for him. With years of familiarity with the art style,Haunted Chocolatierwas built under the benefit of this experience, and the results certainly speak for themselves. While Barone hasno release date forHaunted Chocolatier,Stardew Valleyplayers eagerly wait for more news on the project’s development.
