Summary
Some say thatBatmanis one of the best comic book adaptations due to having found incredible success on the big screen. The sullen superhero made his DC Comics debut all the way back in 1939, appearing on newsstands in Detective Comics No. 27, and has since become much more than a character who “flies” around the night sky to fight the evil villains of Gotham City. Although Bruce Wayne’sBatmanhas seen many faces over the years, like Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, and George Clooney, Robert Pattinson’s version of The Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves’The Batmanadded a whole different layer to the hero fans have known and loved.
Batman’s story has been retold and revamped over the 85 years since his first appearance and Reeves' dive into the dark and mysterious world in 2022 gave Wayne a different path, which was a far cry from his usual public playboy persona, replacing him with a darker and more troubled identity of the billionaire orphan. Pattinson, who had previously starred inTwilightandWater for Elephants, breathed a much-needed breath of new and fresh air into the iconic hero when he decided to jump into the boots of one ofthe biggest comic book charactersof all time.

Robert Pattinson Reveals One Idea He Pitched For The Batman
In an interview withThe New York Times, Robert Pattinson disclosed that he had pitched one of the most important features ofBruce Wayne inThe Batman. Pattinson said that it was his idea that Bruce should be played as a darker and more broken-down character, instead of the philanderer figure he had previously been known as. “That was my one idea for Bruce,” says Pattinson. “He’s been portrayed until now as a playboy. But what if he’s completely socially inept and kind of agoraphobic?” It made sense, this time around, for Bruce inThe Batmanto come across as less experienced, more traumatized, and awkward than before since Reeves' version portrayed a youngerBatmanwho was still finding his feet and developing his detective skills.
Even though Pattison’s version ofBatmanisn’t exactly a laugh-a-minute kinda guy, in real life, Robert still finds some humor from his movie to lighten stressful situations. Pattinson recalls being at passport control and the immigration officer asking him, “Hey, you’re the guy from ‘Twilight.’ Why’d you stop acting?” In a bid to give the awkward conversation a comical facelift, Pattinson replied “I’m Batman?’”, as the officer began laughing. The Batman Part 2is reportedly still planned for a 2026 release, but there are questions regarding who will star as its next villain. Jeffrey Wright, who portrays James “Jim” Gordon, dropped a hint aboutwho he thought could enter as the movie’s next baddie.

The internet is constantly filled with rumors andThe Batman Part 2has been in its firing line regarding a cancelation. Thankfully, DC boss, James Gunn, came to the rescue and poured a bucket full of water over the fire of these rumors by stating thatthe movie wasnot canceled and asked what would be the point of pretending if it was, which is great news for fans who can’t wait to see the evolution of Bruce, the introduction of The Riddler and the Joker.
The Batman Part 2is scheduled to be released in theaters on Jul 18, 2025.
