Summary
InNine Sols, players take the protagonist, Yi, on a challenging journeyfull ofSekiro-inspired combat. While the battles are fierce, dying is something to be avoided, as all of Yi’s collected Jin and EXP will drop at the site of his death. Players will need to think carefully about what skills they upgrade first to help round out their offensive and defensive strategies. Using the right combination of weapons, Jades, and a chosenSpell Styleis crucial to getting one over on the game’s toughest enemies.
As players progress through the story, they’ll learn how to use the Talisman. This powerful weapon attaches to an enemy and can be detonated with Qi Charges for varying degrees of damage. What’s most notable is that the Talisman’s detonation causes an enemy’s Internal Damage to become Direct Damage upon successful execution.Choosing the right Spell Stylefor the current situation is essential to dealing the most damage. The three available Spell Styles each offer something unique, but some are simply more powerful than others.

3Qi Blast
The Default Spell Style
When the Talisman is first introduced, theQi Blast Spell Styleis also unlocked. While this is the default option, it’s still quite powerful, depending on the number of Qi Charges players have unlocked. Yi initially begins with one Qi Charge. More are made available by alotting skill points into the Skill Tree. When players use Qi Blast as their Talisman detonation option, the Spell Style will use between one and three Qi Charges, depending on what Yi has available. More chargesmean more damage.
Qi Blast can be made more effective by using a skill point to unlock Qi Boost. This skill increases the Qi Charge capacity by one, making all Spell Styles even more powerful. After unlocking Qi Boost or Incisive Drain, Qi Blast can be upgraded to Enhanced Qi Blast. This advanced version of the Spell Style grants players one Azure Sand after each successful three-charge detonation. The upgrade coststhree skill points.
2Water Flow
Set It And Forget It
Water Flowcan be unlocked for two skill points once Swift Runner or Life Recovery are unlocked. This Spell Style makes thingseasier for players, eliminating the need to perform Talisman detonations on their own. While the traditional use of the Talisman requires players to hold the button used to attach it to create the detonation, Water Flow causes a self-detonation. This can be extremely beneficial, as it reduces the chances of Yi getting attacked while using the Talisman. However, whether the strike is successful or not, each use of the Talisman with Water Flow equipped will consume two Qi Charges.
For players who enjoy this Spell Style but don’t like the Qi Charge consumption, unlocking the enhanced version of the style is essential. Enhanced Water Flow offers all the same set-and-forget benefits but reduces the required number of Qi Charges to one. Water Flow is most effective againstenemies that move quickly. In addition, it’s also a great option when players choose Jades that use Qi to power sword attacks. Players will likely find this Spell Style highly effective while exploring.
1Full Control
The Potential For Massive Damage
Full Controlcan be unlocked by players after they’ve unlocked Qi Boost or Life Recovery. It costs two skill points to unlock. This Spell Style requires thought and input from players, as they have control throughout the Talisman’s detonation. The longer they hold the button, the longer and more powerful the detonation will be. It can consume up to five Qi Charges, resulting inextreme damage to the enemywhen fully charged.
For players who really want to make an impact with this Spell Style, upgrading it to Enhanced Full Control should be made a priority. When this Spell Style is upgraded, releasing a 5-Qi detonation will result in an extra 56 points of damage. Enhanced Full Control requires three skill points to unlock. Players will often find this Spell Style essential for defeating some of the more challenging bosses inNine Sols, asit can also cause staggerthese formidable foes. It enables players to capitalize on Internal Damage quickly and has the potential to deliver high burst damage, making it the most powerful Spell Style in the game.
