Each unlock has specific requirements that can be challenging to meet, even for the most adept player. With so many unlocks available, it can be overwhelming to decide what to choose first. These are some of the most effective unlocks players won’t want to miss.
7The D6
Re-roll At Will
Players may notice when they first start out with Isaac thatsome of the itemsin the rooms aren’t exactly what they want or need. Unfortunately, at the beginning, they’re stuck with what appears. Once they unlock the D6, they can re-roll every item in the room except for pickups and trinkets. This includes chest items, shop items, devil deals, and so much more.
The D6 can be unlocked by defeating the boss Isaac in the Cathedral as ??? (Blue Baby). Once unlocked, Isaac will begin every run with the D6 activated. This special item makes Isaac a much more formidable character than his original state.
6Azazel
Powerful And Dependable
Azazel is one of themost powerful charactersavailable in the game. However, he must be unlocked to use. He’s most useful due to his Brimstone tears and flight ability. He starts with three black hearts, but has the ability to pick up red hearts along the way.
Players can unlock Azazel by taking three deals with the devil in a single run. They’ll want to make the effort to unlock him as soon as possible, because this character offers the ability to unlock even more great items to make their gameplay a breeze.
5Mom’s Knife
Replacing Tears With A Knife
Mom’s Knife can be a game-changer for Isaac. Once unlocked, it replaces his tears with a single knife thatcauses penetrating damage. Alternatively, players can use this item as a melee weapon that’s capable of causing instant death to some weaker enemies.
Players will need to work a bit to unlock this item. They’ll need to make it to Satan and defeat him, and they’ll need to use Isaac to do it. Defeating Satan with other characters will unlock different items.
4Aprils Fool
Magdalene Gets A Speed Pill
Magdalene is an all-around solid character, but she’s a little bit lacking when it comes to Speed. To help her out in this category, players can complete Challenge #32: Aprils Fool. In this challenge, Isaac gets no special items, and all floor bosses are changed to The Bloat.
While the goal is to defeat Mom’s Heart, it, too, is replaced by The Bloat. Upon successful completion of the challenge, Maggy will get a Speed Pill. Players will likelyfind this challenge frustrating, as any item they pick up will turn into something else. Essentially, everything about this challenge is designed to make it as hard as possible.
3The Relic
Drops Soul Hearts
When The Relic is unlocked, it will follow Isaac like a familiar. However, it’s a lot more beneficial than just an average follower, as it will drop a soul heart every fifth or sixth room. If combined with certain other items, soul-heart generation is reduced to every seven rooms.
The Relic can be unlocked when players defeat the boss Isaac with Magdalene. Depending on how skilled players are at avoiding damage,this unlockable itemcould ensure they make it through their run alive.
2Blank Card
Mimic Active Cards
When players have the Blank Card unlocked, it enables them to use their consumable items without actually consuming them. This helpful item mimics the action of compatible items without using them up. However, if it is accidentally used with an incompatible item or no item, it will expend its charge with no effect at all.
When players defeat the boss Isaac with Eden, the Blank Card will be unlocked. Its recharge time will vary based on certain conditions and items used. Butnot expending consumable itemsright off the bat can make a huge difference in a run for any player.
1Satanic Bible
Gain A Black Heart
The Satanic Bible should be relatively easy to unlock, as players must use Azazel for their run. Since this character is one of the easiest to use, defeating Isaac with him shouldn’t be too much of a challenge. The best part is the effects of the Satanic Bible.
This item grants a single black heart when activated. This means that Isaac can make a deal with the devil that would typically result in his death. Instead, activating the Satanic Bible will ensure that Isaac survives his deal and continues on his run.
