Bethesda has been pretty busy as of late. September 2023 saw Bethesda Game Studios release its first new IP in decades withStarfield, and the developer has been hard at work releasing post-launch patches, updates, and expansions for it ever since. On top of itsdevelopment ofStarfield, Bethesda has also published a number of games in the last few years, such asDeathloop,Hi-Fi Rush,Redfall, and the recently releasedIndiana Jones and the Great Circle. But while Bethesda already has its hands full, it’d still be nice to see more fromThe Elder Scrolls.

WhileSkyrimhas gotten countless ports over the years andThe Elder Scrolls Onlineis still receiving consistent updates and expansions, with the latest arriving back in June, a new mainlineElder Scrollsgame hasn’t been seen in over a decade. But that could be about to change. Some recent rumors have surfaced suggesting that Bethesda could be getting ready to announce someElder Scrollsnews, and the publisher has the perfect blueprint to both start and end 2025 with a bang.

The Elder Scrolls Could Have Two Big Announcements in 2025

An Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remaster Could Start The Year With a Bang

All the way back in September 2023, a handful of confidentialdocuments from the Microsoft FTC court casewere leaked. One of these documents claimed that, at one time, remasters of bothFallout 3andThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivionwere in development. While these remasters were written off by the general gaming public as presumably canceled projects that never saw the light of day, some fans held out hope that they’d see them come to fruition at some point.

Those fans might be about to get their wish. According toWindows Central’s Jez Corden, anElder Scrolls 4: Oblivionremaster is not only real, but it’s also set to be announced in just a few weeks. Though Microsoft hasn’t confirmed it yet, it’s been heavily rumored that another Xbox Developer Direct will take place in January 2025, just as it has the last two years. Corden believes theOblivionremaster will be revealed during this event.

An Elder Scrolls 6 Trailer Could End The Year With a Win

While anElder Scrolls 4: Oblivionremaster announcement during the unconfirmedXbox Developer Directin January would kick off Bethesda’s year in a major way, the publisher shouldn’t stop there. The Elder Scrolls 6has been one of the most anticipated games for years, and it’s about time Bethesda revealed a bit more about the game.

Announced all the way back in 2018,The Elder Scrolls 6’s revealgrows more infamous by the day, with even Bethesda’s Todd Howard admitting that he probably would have “announced it more casually” if he was given the chance to go back. In 2021, Howard confirmed thatThe Elder Scrolls 6was in the design phase. In August 2023, Bethesda’s Pete Hines stated it was in full development. And in March, Bethesda mentioned that early builds of the long-awaited sequel were being played internally.

ThoughThe Elder Scrolls 6is still probably at least a year or two away from hitting store shelves at the minimum, it would be great to see a new trailer for the game this year, perhaps finally confirming its chosen setting.
