As of now, there isn’t any clear information about the nextFalloutgame. Bethesda has yet to make an official announcement, but the hope for moreFalloutis alive and well following the success of the live-action Amazon series. Amazon’sFalloutshow was a surprise hit with fans, but it also introduced the franchise to an even wider audience. This bump in popularity reignited interest, which has made many wonder when a new game will see the light of day.
Unfortunately,a fifth mainlineFalloutgameis likely years away at this point. However, that at least leaves developer Bethesda plenty of time to include some exciting features and details. The ravaged post-nuclear wastelands and surviving civilizations inFallout’s lore are rich with fun hidden gems and Easter eggs, and the franchise could find inspiration fromDoomandWolfenstein. While these two franchises are very different fromFallout, they both feature a fun homage to their original titles.Doom EternalandWolfenstein 2: The New Colossusinclude hidden mini-games that allow players to revisit older entries that helped serve as the genesis of each series.

Fallout Should Use Doom and Wolfenstein’s Throwback Trick
Paying Homage to Fallout 1 and 2
WithFallout 1and2being fellow 90s classics, the nextFalloutcould feature an in-game Easter egg likeDoom EternalandWolfenstein’s throwbacks. InDoom Eternal, players can find ways to play boththe originalDoomandDoom 2: Hell on Earth, bringing to life a clever and fun way to pay tribute to the series and its legacy.Wolfenstein 2pulled off this fun trick a few years before, and both approaches to this Easter egg are perfect for aFalloutgame.
Doom Eternalplayers can unlock the originalDoomby collecting all floppy discs and beating the game. ForDoom 2: Hell on Earth, players have to go to the Doom Slayer’s room and interact with his computer.
Over 20 years later,Fallouthas become one of the biggest RPGs in the industry. Although the franchise evolved into a first-person adventure, hiding playable versions of the first two games in an abandoned arcade somewhere out in the wasteland is not impossible to imagine. The legacy ofWolfensteinandDoomis just as influential asFallout, so it only makes sense for the latter to look to these franchises for inspiration.Falloutprobably can’t find much inspiration in terms of gameplay, but when it comes to howDoomandWolfensteinapproach Easter eggs, then Bethesda would have its hands on a treasure trove of great ideas.
Making Fallout’s Wasteland Feel More Alive
Wasteland settings are at the heart ofFallout, and wherever the next game is set next, a vast and devastated map is bound to be at the center of the story.Exploring the wastelands inFalloutcan lead to wild discoveries, and an arcade machine or even a random Holotape could be the key to making this type of throwback possible.
Wolfenstein 2fans can play a remixed version ofWolfenstein 3Dby going to Club Kreisau in Eva’s Hammer. This revamped version is calledWolfstone 3Dand is shown from a Nazi’s perspective, putting a morbid twist on the game.
The Wait For More Fallout News Continues
There have yet to be any updates from Bethesda regardingFallout 5. Although the silence is frustrating, there is at least the reassurance thatSeason 2 ofFalloutis in the works, which is better than nothing. Only time will tell when Bethesda makesFallout 5official, but an update will hopefully arrive sooner, rather than later.
From the wasteland tothe underground Vault communities,Fallouthas brought forth a fascinating world that continues to entertain. The franchise may look much different than its original form, but that would make a retroFallout 1and2Easter egg in the next chapter that much more exciting.
