Summary

The cancelation ofBosch: Legacystill has fans baffled as they were looking forward to many more solo Harry Bosch crime cases. Amazon tried to put a PR spin on the announcement of the end of the show, and the creative team have only said ‘positive’ things. However, the true story behind the scenes is probably very different, and it looks like some of the crew might have been speaking out about what really happened in a thread on Reddit.

The comments are very detailed about what might have really been going on inside the production ofBosch: Legacyseason 3, and it definitely makes more sense than the official line from Amazon.Hollywood needs to support the SaveBosch: Legacypetition, butit might be a case of them not being able to voice their opinions in public to protect their jobs onBallard, and avoid risking the wrath of the Amazon cover-up machine.

Let’s help the writers finish the series right! I know some people think 10 years is long enough, but don’t we all hate it when a series feels like there’s unfinished business?

This was the rallying cry on ther/BoschTV reddit threadover two months ago, in a discussion about theSaveBosch: Legacypetition, which was still in its infancy at the time. A redditor known as SwansPrincess wrote:

They have shot season 3, which the writers and producers did not realize was going to be the final season. They were only told after the season had been shot that it was canceled. The way season 3 ends was not meant to be a wrap up of the series.

This sounds like someone who is very much ‘in the know’ about what was going on behind the scenes in the production ofBosch: Legacyseason 3. It is way too detailed to be someone who isn’t clued-up, and when the entirety ofBosch: Legacyseason 3 is viewed, it’ll probably be confirmed to be true. It’s just a shame that the creative team appear to feel silenced, and can only speak out anonymously via online forums. This is America: everyone is entitled to freedom of speech without the fear of a backlash.Of course, fans don’t know for certain, but just imagine if it came out that Amazon were trying to silence the voices inside the production, so they can keep peddling the official narrative that all is fine and rosy behind the curtain.

SwansPrincess added a bit more to the lively discussion:.

Harry is not a permanent part of theBallardstory in the TV version. And don’t forget, inLegacy, Maddie and Honey are the other two major characters, so it isn’t all about Harry. And what I am telling you is from inside the production that they had not written or shot season 3 as a finale to theLegacyseries. They had planned for one more to come.

Save Bosch: Legacy Petition Key Facts

The Original Bosch Petition Saw The Creative Team Speak Out Publicly But They’ve Been Silent This Time Around, And That Could Be Down To Amazon

Titus Welliver’s pre-cancelation commentsback up the fact that there were clearly more plans forBosch: Legacy, as the show is the ‘mothership’ of the Bosch-verse. Sincethe end ofBosch: Legacywas announced, the only things fans have heard fromMichael Connellyand Titus Welliver is how wonderful Amazon are, and how grateful everyone is to have ten seasons - yada yada yada! That doesn’t ring true when their previous comments are analyzed in the context ofBosch: Legacy’s cancelation. The cast and crew were very vocal during the first campaign to saveBosch. Here’s Madison Lintz (Maddie Bosch)signing the petition on change.orgin 2020:

I’m signing because I love being employed!! In all seriousness, thank you so so much for the constant support, Bosch wouldn’t be what it is without y’all. Thank you, thank you.

That is very interesting wording, isn’t it? Madison Lintz ‘loves being employed’, and maybe that is exactly the reason why she isn’t speaking up this time. She wants to continue being employed by Amazon in potential appearances in theBallardspin-off.If she speaks up this time and goes against the official narrative, she might be looking for another job.It sounds like Amazon don’t want the fans to know what’s really going on, and they have potentially silenced the creative talent who helped to put them on the streaming map all those years ago.

In a now deleted Reddit account, the ‘mystery’ user responded to a fan who was saddened by the loss of jobs for the cast and crew onBosch: Legacy:

Thanks. It’s a good team and a lot of us are onBallardright now. I hope premium storytelling survives a while longer, but as a profession, filmmaking won’t be what it was. Just like many industries, things change and the market always decides.

A lot of the team are working onBallard, so if they speak up about the shenanigans withBosch: Legacy’s cancelation, Amazon could just terminate their contracts. The industry certainly is changing, and not for the better. Ten years ago, the streamers took over Hollywood, and now they are killing the movie-making capital of the world by moving productions away from the area. The cast and crew should feel free to discuss their disappointment withBosch: Legacy’s abrupt end without the fear of consequences.Luckily, the fans do have a voice, and they need to use it.
