Undead Unluckis currently one of the biggestShonen Jumphits. When the anime was announced, it quickly became one of the most anticipated series for 2023. The confirmation that the anime would be released globally kept the hype up, but Disney’s schedule for the series might have affected the series' international performance (quite the opposite of whathappened toThe Apothecary Diaries).
For this reason, a lot of people might have missedone of the best seriesreleased by the end of 2023. Also, despite showing an amazing action-packed animation at the beginning, the serieslost momentum among fans. Maybe delivering 24 weekly episodes in a row was not the best approach to this one.

For fans who are eager for more, now it’s confirmed that there will benew informationabout thepreviously announced 1-hour specialatJump Fest 2025. Despite the name, Jump Festa 2025 takes place later this month in Japan.
What We Know So Far

We will probably get a new release window and maybe a new trailer at Jump Festa 2025. Check out the teaser trailer released a few months ago:
Undead Unluckis originally a manga published in Shueisha’sShonen Jumpmagazine, and it’s penned by Yoshifumi Tozuka. As usual withShonen Jumptitles, it is published in the US by VIZ Media (a company owned by the same conglomerate that owns Shueisha). It has been serialized since 2020, and compiled into 23 volumes so far.
The story takes place 10 years after an incident that left hundreds of people dead, including Fuuko Izumo’s parents. At that time, she was only 8 years old, and she has isolated herself from the world since then due to her “unluck” ability (that means she brings bad luck to people around her). Despite all of it, what she truly wants is romance. One day, she meets another very odd person: a man who just wants to die. He is an immortal “undead” and he hates it so badly. This guy, who she names Andy (it’s a joke with how “undead” is pronounced in Japanese), starts hanging around with her to see if he is able to take advantage of her “unluckyness” to finally die. But then anorganization called Unionstarts chasing them.
The anime adaptation is produced byTMS Entertainment (Lupin III) and animated byDavid Production(JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure).Yuki Yaseis in charge of the direction, and he previously worked asFire Forcedirector. Yamato Haijima is credited as the head writer, and his portfolio also includesFire Force.
