GamesRadar talked to Takafumi Nomaabout the probability of a successor toUnicorn Overlord, and unfortunately, the game’s director says the chances appear slim right now. Noma stated that there are no plans to continue the development of the series, regardless of whether it’s as DLC or a sequel. Noma expressed gratitude forthe way thatUnicorn Overlordhas been received by players, but it just doesn’t seem like there’s a future in mind for the game right now.

It seems that as long as they get the green light from Sega and Atlus, moving forward withUnicorn Overlordis something its developers would be happy to do.Gamers have been asking for aUnicorn OverlordPC port, but despite the demand from fans, it appears that that’s not enough right now.

It’s unclear whether this is the end forUnicorn Overlordas a whole. IncludingUnicorn Overlord, Vanillaware has published its last three titles with Atlus, a company that the last decade has been great for with games likeMetaphor: ReFantazioand thePersonafranchise. Vanillaware may be searching for aPersona-sized hit before moving into franchising its releases. However, it could be just as difficult to create hype for a series without having a recognizable property that’s been proven over time. Regardless, Vanillaware seems ready to move on to the next project.
