Mickey 17 Receives Another Release Date Change
According toThe Hollywood Reporter, Joon-Ho’s science-fiction comedyMickey 17is scheduled to hit theaters on May 31, 2025, moving up from the previously scheduled April 18, as Warner Bros. announces significant changes to its release schedule. This shift comes asMickey 17takes the spot originally reserved for another WB production,Sinners, directed by Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler. This reshuffling of Warner Bros' release calendar underscores the studio’s confidence in the film, positioning it as a major contender in the early 2025 box office race while shiftingSinnersto a later date.
This is not the first time the film’s release date has been changed.Mickey 17has had a tumultuous journey from its announcement to its release. The movie was first revealed to be in development in January 2022, with excitement building over Joon-Ho’s return to the screen after his Oscar-winning success withParasite. Initially, the production company declared that the film would be released on June 09, 2025, but the production delays due to the pandemic impacted the filming schedule, causing a ripple effect on its timeline.
