Marvel Rivalsplayers knew that Season 0, Dooms’ Rise, would be a shorter season, lasting only a month, as NetEase launched the hero shooter. Season 1, Eternal Night Falls, is now slated to last roughly three months with an appropriately large Battle Pass. Season 0’s Battle Pass, Chronovium, features skins for Black Panther, Punisher, Hela, and Mantis, and thankfullynoMarvel RivalsBattle Pass will ever expire, meaning players won’t be struck with FOMO and can attend to Battle Pass rewards at their leisure. With all of the daily missions and event challenges available since Chronovium’s release, though, it’s likely that diligent players have secured each reward already.
Now that Season 1’s Battle Pass, Darkhold, is unveiled and available for players to purchase with Lattice, it’s clear thatMarvel Rivalsis sticking to Season 0’s structure by doling out a skin for a character on nearly every Battle Pass page, with the first page offering two—a skin upon purchase of the Battle Pass itself and a skin unlocked with Chrono Tokens at the page’s end. The characters selected for a skin seem arbitrary and not all of them are associated with Eternal Night Falls’ Gothic Recursion theme; however, there are even more implications this altered structure suggests about what players can expect from future months-long Battle Pass content.

Marvel Rivals: How Season 0’s Rewards Compare to Season 1’s
A total of10 skins are available via the Darkhold Battle Pass, which far exceeds the four skins that players can spend Chrono Tokens on in Season 0’s Chronovium Battle Pass. It’s odd, then, that none of these 10 skins are dedicated to Fantastic Four characters, though NetEase is likely hoping to capitalize on them with featured skins in the store as they debut, such as the phenomenal Maker and Malice costumes for Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman, respectively.
One notable skin in Season 1’s Battle Pass is Peni Parker’s Blue Tarantula—a colorway swap that seems out of place when enveloped by extravagant Gothic Recursion skins. Moon Knight’s Blood Moon Knight is more or less a colorway swap as well with a design change to his cape logo, and to supply him with another color-swap skin at the same time as players will be earning theGolden Moonlight Moon Knight skin for achieving a Gold competitive rankseems like an oversight.

Indeed, Moon Knight also recently received the discounted Lunar General skin in the store. Thus, NetEase triple-dipping on skins for the character this way serves as a reminder that it’s nearly impossible to predict who will receive a skin and when—until players look to prominentMarvel Rivalsleaks, of course.
Rocket Raccoon’s 1872: Bounty Hunter skin has returned fromMarvel Rivals’ beta and is now available in Season 1’s Battle Pass, lending credence to the hope that Iron Man’s 1872: Steam Power skin andVenom’s Cyan Clash skinwill return in the future, too.

Players should not expect four new playable characters per season as the Fantastic Four is an exception made for the rarity of Marvel’s first family. As such, two new playable characters can be expected in subsequent seasons. There will be37 characters inMarvel Rivals’ roster by the time Season 1 concludes, andMarvel Rivalsmaintaining such a tremendous output would be superfluous regardless of how many characters are still ripe for picking.
Nonetheless, Eternal Night Falls demonstrates that future seasons can and may pack a ton of content if there’s a special circumstance. Interestingly, the Fantastic Four is not a no-brainer roster addition for a season as dark and brooding as Eternal Night Falls. It might’ve made more sense had Blade been officially revealed, for example, and therefore any characters introduced in subsequent seasons may be completely unprecedented.
