The gaming industry is a rather turbulent ecosphere filled with countless moving parts, and there are few things that are certain in the gaming world. But one of those rare certainties is that a newCall of Dutyentry will be released every year, and2025will be no different.
Back in October,Call of Duty: Black Ops 6lifted the franchise back to heights it hadn’t reached in over a decade, delivering the return of round-based Zombies, a fully-fledged campaign mode, and 16 original multiplayer maps on launch. For the first time in a long time,Call of Duty’s 2024 entry felt like the complete package, and it’s going to be a difficult job for next year’s entry to match those same lofty heights. But if recent leaks are to be believed,Call of Duty2025 could be another solid entry.

What Fans Can Expect From Call of Duty’s 2025 Entry
Call of Duty 2025 Is Allegedly a Black Ops 2 Sequel
All the way back in December 2023,Insider Gaming’s Tom Hendersonpublished a report that claimedCall of Duty’s 2025 entry (codenamed Saturn) would be a direct sequel to 2012’sCall of Duty: Black Ops 2. According to Henderson’s anonymous sources,Call of Duty2025’s campaign and multiplayer mode will share a 2030s setting, taking place around 5–10 years after the events ofBlack Ops 2’s campaign.
Insider Gaming’s report gained a lot of traction upon its December 2023 publication, and in the 12 months since, several leakers have taken to Twitter on numerous occasions to corroborate the report’s legitimacy, claiming they too have heard thatCall of Duty2025 will be a direct sequel toBlack Ops 2. Some have even claimed thatCall of Duty2025’s campaignwill once again follow David Mason, Alex Mason’s son.
Call of Duty 2025 Could Be Keeping Omnimovement
Back in October,@Fumoleakstook to Twitter to share some more leaks surroundingCall of Duty2025, allegedly obtained from someone who participated in a focus group for the upcoming entry. In this thread, it was claimed that Omnimovement will be returning inCall of Duty2025, complete with “increased fluidity” and “all-new immersive animations.” These leaks also mention that new gameplay mechanics like a “Wall Jump” will be added toCall of Duty2025’s Omnimovementsystem.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s human shield mechanic will also allegedly return inCall of Duty2025, where players will be given the option to attach grenades to captured foes and kick them into enemies.
Call of Duty 2025 Could Be Changing The Perk System
FumoLeaks' Twitter thread also mentioned that an entirely new Perk system could be added withCall of Duty2025. The next entry might include “Networked Perks,” which will allow teammates to share buffs. It’s unclear what these Perks will be or how they’ll be activated, but it could add some interesting team dynamics toCall of Duty’s usually rather solitary gameplay loop.
Round-Based Zombies Could Return in Call of Duty 2025
The return of round-based Zombies has been a major highlight ofCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, and according to FumoLeaks, that’s also set to carry over toCall of Duty2025. FumoLeaks states thatCall of Duty2025 will feature “one of the biggest [round-based Zombies] maps ever,” and will feature a transportation system similar to the one found inBlack Ops 2’s notorious TranZit map.
