2024 was a busy time forFinal Fantasy 14, and 2025 is shaping up to build upon what started inDawntrail. Between the launch of the fifthFinal Fantasy 14expansion and the game’s first major graphical overhaul since its relaunch asA Realm Reborn, Square Enix’s critically acclaimed MMORPG is prepared to continue providing service in the years ahead.
At the time of writing,Final Fantasy 14 released Patch 7.15, which started a new chapter in the beloved Hildibrand quest series, the Chaotic Alliance Raid challenge for the raiding community to tackle, and anew Custom Delivery client named Nitowikwefor crafters and gatherers to help out. For clarity and brevity, this feature will cover information confirmed by Square Enix, with a loose timetable of when to expect things to be released. AlthoughFinal Fantasy 14 Mobilewill likely launch in 2025, the list will exclusively focus on the console and PC versions. Additionally, all topics were made assuming thatFinal Fantasy 14’s current patch cycle of 19 to 20 weeks will continue in 2025, starting with Patch 7.1’s release date of November 12 and going from there. In no particular order, here iswhatFinal Fantasy 14players can expect to see throughout 2025.

Confirmed Features Coming To Final Fantasy 14 In 2025
Main Story Quest Continuation
The main story ofDawntrailwill continue in early 2025, with the launch of Patch 7.2 in the first few months of the year. WithPatch 7.1 launching on November 12 and giving Jobs some adjustments, players can expect a late March to early April release window for the next chapter ofDawntrail’s ongoing saga. Considering thatFinal Fantasy 14Patch 7.1 ended on a cliffhanger involving a mysterious figure who emerged from Living Memory, the Warrior of Light and their allies will likely continue their investigations in Alexandria. About 19 to 20 weeks after that, from mid-August to early September, Patch 7.3 should bring the post-Dawntrailpatch cycle to a decisive conclusion. If past patterns hold, players can expect at least one dungeon each in 7.2 and 7.3, with a Trial in Patch 7.3 against an unannounced foe.
More Raid Content To Consume
Patch 7.2 and 7.3 will feature additional raid content forFinal Fantasy 14players to challenge. 7.2 will bring the next tier ofthe 8-player Arcadion raid series, dubbed the Cruiserweight Tier, on both Normal and Savage difficulties. Players must complete the Arcadion’s Light-Heavyweight Tier on Normal mode to advance to the Cruiserweight rounds. Later in 2025, Patch 7.3 will offer the next chapter in the Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raid series. Although the bosses that players will encounter in both the Arcadion and Vana’diel raids remain a complete mystery, the difficulty of each respective tier is expected to be a step up from the previous ones. Though it is unknown ifDawntrailwill feature a second Ultimate raid, Patch 7.3 is a likely window for one to be released. In short,Final Fantasy 14’s raiding community should monitor the next two major patches coming in 2025.
A Game-Changing Housing Update
The player housing ofFinal Fantasy 14remains a creative and lucrative part of the game, as both individual buyers and free companies have claimed limited plots of land within each server. Although Square Enix has not announced if any new wards or housing districts will be added inDawntrail, some major changes are expected in 2025. Slated for release in either Patch 7.2 or 7.3,Final Fantasy 14players will have the option to pay considerable amounts of Gil to change the interior size of a home, while keeping the exterior the same. For example, a medium interior could be upgraded to a large one, with all the indoor furnishing perks of owning a mansion-sized home. Plus, increases in the number of furnishings for each size of home are expected to arrive in a similar timeframe. Withautomatic housing demolitions returning toFinal Fantasy 14in early January, Eorzea’s homeowners will want to keep an eye out for more information.
Exploring The Shades' Triangle
Sometime during the Patch 7.2 or Patch 7.3 release cycle,Final Fantasy 14will take players to the Shades' Triangle, the game’s latest field operation style of battle content. The lands of Eurekaand Bozja were the respective forays players undertook inStormbloodandShadowbringers, withEndwalkerforegoing them in favor of the Variant and Criterion Dungeons and the Island Sanctuary. Due to player feedback, Square Enix confirmed that field operations would resume inDawntrail, starting with the Occult Crescent, part of the Shades' Triangle archipelago located off the coast of Tural. Based on the real-world Bermuda Triangle, the new field operation will likely be whereDawntrail’s relic weapon quests will occur. Only time will tell what Square Enix has prepared for players who brave the mysterious Shades' Triangle. However, the world ofFinal Fantasy 14still holds plentiful secrets to tell.
The Future of Final Fantasy 14 Remains A Complete Mystery
Figuring Out What Dawntrail’s Trial Series Could Be
Square Enix stated that the post-launch Trial fights ofDawntrailwill return to how they were inHeavenswardthroughShadowbringers, where they were treated as a separate side quest series, independent of the main story. The lone exception to this will be Patch 7.3’s Trial fight, which is expected to be the finale ofDawntrail. Although Square Enix has remained tight-lipped about the Trials, players can expect hints or confirmation in the lead-up to Patch 7.2 in early 2025.Trials have traditionally been pulled from pastFinal Fantasygames, withShadowbringersfeaturing the Weapons from the originalFinal Fantasy 7, andHeavenswardhosting the Warring Triad fromFinal Fantasy 6. Considering thatDawntraildraws heavily fromFinal Fantasy 9andFinal Fantasy 11, foes from both games are possible candidates. In short, plenty of deadly bosses from various entries in theFinal Fantasyfranchise could be used as the basis forDawntrail’s Trial battles.
Cosmic Exploration Is A Safe Bet For 2025
Initially revealed asone of the major features ofDawntrail, Cosmic Exploration is expected to arrive during the upcoming patch cycle. Though little information is known about what players will do in Cosmic Exploration, Square Enix has stated that crafters and gatherers will be able to see various planets and other reaches of the final frontier, with likely help coming from star-faring races such as the Loporrits. Given that the Island Sanctuary debuted in Patch 6.2 ofEndwalker, as did the Ishgard Restoration effort in Shadowbringers' 5.2 update, Cosmic Exploration may come as early as Patch 7.2 or Patch 7.3.Final Fantasy 14fans should stay tuned to any upcoming Letter from the Producer Live broadcasts for more information.
Potential Teases for The Expansion After Dawntrail
With Patch 7.3 expected to bethe climax ofDawntrail’s main story arc, the ensuing updates will set the tone for where the Warrior of Light will head in the nextFinal Fantasy 14expansion. While no concrete information is known about Patch 8.0, some teases will make their way into the story, giving players an idea of what may come to pass. Between the southern land of Meracydia and some uncharted parts of Ilsabard and northern Othard, the world of Etheirys and its remaining Reflections still have plenty of secrets to tell. Keen-eyed lore aficionados will want to pay close attention to the cutscenes and dialogue of Patch 7.2 and beyond.
Where is the Beastmaster?
Announced at the 2024 Tokyo FanFest, the Beastmaster is the second confirmed Limited Job coming toFinal Fantasy 14in the latter part of the post-Dawntrail patch cycle. However, Square Enix has not mentioned any further details beyond that, leaving players to wonder which patch could mark the arrival of the Beastmaster. As a Limited Job, the Beastmaster willfollow in the footsteps of the Blue Mage, but its main weapon and armor categories remain unknown. Assuming Patch 7.3 is released in August and not September, a potential December release window for Patch 7.4 would be one of the earliest possible opportunities for the Beastmaster to debut. At the bare minimum,Final Fantasy 14players may yet get more information from Square Enix about the upcoming Limited Job during the latter half of 2025.
