Marvel Studios is starting the year swinging with thenew animated seriesYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Manreleasing on Disney+ on January 29. The multiverse story sits outside the main canon of the MCU and explores Peter Parker’s Spider-Man origins in his early days of high school. Some of the Marvel Comics characters set to appear include Nico Minoru, Harry and Norman Osborn, and Otto Octavius, among many others.
Captain America: Brave New World Kicks Off The MCU’s Cinematic Slate
Starting things off on the theatrical side of the MCU isCaptain America: Brave New World. The film marks the first time Anthony Mackie has led an MCU movie as the new Captain America, and it’s set to answer many questions, like what the world plans to do with Tiamut (the Celestial that almost emerged inEternals), and will reveal how and why Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus Rossbecomes the Red Hulk.
Daredevil Will Make His Return in March
After Charlie Cox’sDaredevilseries was canceled on Netflix, the actor is getting a second chance at his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in a new Disney+ series. The series reunites Cox with his old cast mates Vincent D’Onofrio (Kingpin), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen), and Elden Henson (Foggy). The series will be darker and longer than any other MCU series to date and fans are eager to see thenew direction that Daredevil goesin.
The Thunderbolts Arrive In May
Marvel will release three theatrical films in 2025 the second of which isThunderbolts*. Along with answering what themystery asterisk at the end of the titlemeans,Thunderbolts*will bring together an unlikely band of MCU antiheroes. Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), US Agent (Wyatt Russell), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) are recruited by Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra Fontaine for a dangerous and action-packed mission. The film is essentially the MCU’s answer to the Suicide Squad, but it will be interesting to see how it compares.
Ironheart Will Debut on Disney+ In June
Marvel Studios is setting up a big 2025 on Disney+ which will finally include the release of thelong-gestatingIronheartseries. Dominique Thorne was first introduced as Riri Williams inBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever, but will soon lead her own series when she comes across a villain who hopes to pit technology against magic. Anthony Ramos, Alden Ehrenreich, and Lyric Ross are set to star alongside Thorne withIronheartaiming to release on June 24.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps Will Provide A Blockbuster Summer
Thearrival of the Fantastic Fourin the MCU is one of the biggest events on the 2025 calendar for Marvel Studios. Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach star as the members of Marvel’s first family and will be introduced in a retro-futuristic film directed by Matt Shakman. Eyes of Wakanda Is A New Black Panther Series Set For August
Marvel Animation is hard at work in 2025 with anothernew animated series titledEyes of Wakandaset for release on August 6. The series delves into Wakandan history by following the Hatut Zaraze warriors on missions to recover vibranium artifacts from around the world. Another new series out of Marvel Animation next year isMarvel Zombies, a series that has been in development for years now. Some of the characters set to appear include Katy (Awkwafina), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh).
Wonder Man Will Round Out The Year in December
The last project announced for Marvel Studios’ slate in thenew year isWonder Man. The series comes fromShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringsdirector Destin Daniel Cretton andBrooklyn Nine-Nineproducer Andrew Guest. It stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, a superpowered actor who auditions for the lead role in a superhero TV show. The MCU’s resident in-house actor Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley) is also along for the ride in what looks to be a more comedic show for the MCU.Wonder Manwill round out Marvel Studios’ 2025 slate in December.
